Masterson’s Tavern , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my most recent experience at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I discovered behind its threshold was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .

From the moment I stepped inside , it was clear that upkeep was not a priority at this establishment . The surfaces were tacky , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and filthy restrooms polluted the entire venue . Reeking of a mixture of ammonia , putrefaction and sickness . The main bar, which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and trash that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks .
